SUHOOR ON ASSATEAGUE ISLAND
This might be my favorite annual Ramadan tradition. Every year, a handful of us slip away from the city in the middle of the night, after one of the myriad of massive iftars that take place throughout our DC community, to have suhoor together on Assateague Island & watch the sunrise there before driving back. It’s about 3 hours straight east of DC & so the drives to & from are beautiful journeys on their own. On lucky mornings, we’re able to come across ponies (& other rare Pokemon) that wander across the Island.
